Former employers of crash victim Matt Jones paid tribute to him.

The personal trainer used to work for Southern Water and a spokesman said he was a “real character”.

The spokesman told The Argus: “It was with great sadness that we heard about the plane crash at the Shoreham Airshow this weekend. We have learnt one of our former colleagues, Matt Jones, was one of the victims of the tragic accident.

“Matt worked for Southern Water for a number of years, across various Customer Engagement teams. He was a real character and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those involved.”

Mr Jones’s death was confirmed by his sister on Sunday morning, writing on Facebook: “We are devastated to say Matt Jones was one of the fatalities.”

She had spent the afternoon before appealing for information as to her brother’s whereabouts after he failed to arrive home from work.

Flowers and cards have been left in tribute to him at his family home. One card said: “Some things will never be the same again.”
