Threatened strikes by workers who refuel aircraft at Gatwick Airport were averted today when a deal was agreed in a row over pay and union recognition.
The Transport and General Workers Union had called industrial action running up to the May Bank Holiday weekend and warned that flights would be disrupted if the action went ahead.
Union official Kevin Hall said the agreement with GRS would lead to talks over wages, adding: "We now hope to build a meaningful industrial relationship with GRS as we pursue our talks on pay."
