Experience the thrill of the Metropolitan Opera live from New York from the relative comfort of a Brighton cinema seat. The Duke of York's spring season of opera on the big screen live from the Big Apple draws to a close.
This time there is jealousy, murder, suicide, religious rapture, intrigue and young love. No, it's not an episode from Eastenders, it's Puccini's triple bill of oneact opera, Il Trittico. This new production from Broadway luminary and Tony Awardwinner Jack O'Brian, showcases the technical clout of the Met stage as well as an impressive ensemble cast, not to mention Puccini at his most hauntingly lyrical and dramatic. Conducted by the The Met's celebrated music director, James Levine, the cast includes Maria Guleghina as the faithless wife, Giorgetta, and Salvatore Licitra as her doomed lover.
Barbara Frittoli sings the role of the tragic Angelica and Stephanie Blythe is her tormentor, the princess.
The opera features the composer's famous romantic aria, O Mio Babbino Caro.
- Starts 6.30pm, tickets £25/£20/£17.50.
