Desalination is not an option yet as Harold Parkin suggests (Letters, April 20).
A recent study at Newhaven showed that it can cost up to ten times as much as obtaining water from traditional sources.
It also uses an unacceptable amount of power and leaves the problem of disposing of the left over concentrated brine solution.
