I read with interest the radical plans to improve the environment in the area between St Peter's Church and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton (The Argus, April 16).
Assuming the forecast of global warming is correct, resulting in hotter and drier summers, this will not be the ideal situation for green grass and trees. The city is already blessed enough with pleasant green spaces for dog lovers to enjoy and mess.
I therefore suggest a man-made flowing stream with fountains to provide an enjoyable open space is required. A bridge could easily be erected to allow traffic from North Street to proceed to the east side of the main thoroughfare.
The scheme would emphasise Brighton's description of being the "Queen of the Watering Places" and as we are assured the sea level will be increasing, there will not be any shortage of water.
