A traumatised pair of dogs are ready to be rehomed after their ordeal.
Dermot and Lynn were among 204 Yorkshire terriers found trapped in appalling conditions a year ago.
Animal rescuers discovered the terriers, including six dead dogs, crammed in a garden shed in Hurstpierpoint.
They are the only two still waiting to be rehoused, having needed extra time to get over their experience.
Dermot and Lynn were taken in by the Celia Hammond Animal Trust in Brede, near Hastings.
Ms Hammond said: "When we found them, they were running around in the dark and were virtually feral.
"They have improved a lot and we have taken them as far as we can but they are still quite nervous and get frightened easily.
"They can go on a lead now, which they couldn't before, but they still get very frightened when they see a car.
"Dermot and Lynn are very close and cling to each other so they need to be rehomed together."
Ms Hammond said they had to go to an owner that could give them special attention and had looked after difficult dogs before.
