Police have confirmed that a man found dead near a parade of shops had hanged himself.
Formal identification of the man, who is understood to have been 25-years-old and until recently lived in Crawley, has yet to take place.
He was found at an address behind Dial a Pizza and Ackerman Music on Portland Road in Hove on Sunday morning.
It is thought he committed suicide sometime between Midnight on Saturday and 10am on Sunday morning.
Neighbours described hearing a series of loud bangs coming from the property during the night.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the incident from about 11am on Sunday and removed a length of rope from the property.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and we can confirm that cause of death was by hanging."
