The spectre of the King Alfred development looms large over this ward, with many raising concerns.
But while the two Conservative councillors - Averil Older and Jan Young - claim this will be a key issue on May 3, the Lib Dems have earmarked the ward as their top priority, despite voting through Frank Gehry's redevelopment.
Councillor Older said: "I have not found anyone in support of King Alfred. The Lib Dems haven't got a chance and I am not aware of any other parties who have been leafleting."
The seat was won by 400 votes last time, but Coun Older believes the margin is likely to be larger this time.
Rachel Lyons will be standing alongside Bernie Katz for Labour and they believe the provision of hundreds of new affordable homes at the King Alfred site will be to their party's advantage.
Lib Dem Ben Herbert says he and fellow party member Simon Doyle are pushing for improvements to Blatchington Road and weekly recycling.
Mr Herbert said: "We are neck and neck with the Conservatives at the moment."
Dave Walsh and Jacqueline Da Costa will stand for the Greens, and Christopher Kilburn for the Protest Vote Party.
Expect the two Tories to still be councillors on May 4.
