A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal house fire.
The local man, 20, is being quizzed by police after firefighters found grandmother Vilma Hamper, 56, dead in her home in Pembury Road, Langney, Eastbourne.
A post mortem will be carried out this afternoon and forensic officers are continuing their investigations at the scene.
Firefighters were called to the council terraced home at 2.44am on Wednesday morning.
Mrs Hamper's grandson, Andrew Bissett, 16, escaped the inferno by jumping from an upstairs bedroom window.
John Hamper, 60, who is blind and disabled, managed to crawl out of the back door and was pulled to safety by neighbours.
DCI Trevor Bowles, who is leading the investigation, said "Police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
"I would like to thank the public in Eastbourne for their assistance, especially the local residents in Pembury Road and Sevenoaks Road for their patience while police carry out their investigation."
