A policewoman suffered a broken wrist after her car was involved in a collision with another vehicle. The officer was driving the police vehicle on the A23 Crawley Avenue, in Crawley, near the junction of Gossops Drive, when the crash happened at 8pm last night. Sussex Police said the car had not been responding to an emergency call and did not have its lights or siren on at the time of the accident. A force spokesman said: "It was just a straight-forward crash, the kind that could happen between any two cars." He said the matter was not going to be reported to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) as there was no suggestion the officer had broken any rules. Traffic was severely disrupted after the crash which forced the northbound carriageway off the road to be closed for more than two hours. The policewoman and the female driver of the other car, a Vauxhall Corsa, were treated by paramedics before being taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
