I didn't know what to expect of this show.
Would it consist of little Bratz dolls or people dressed in giant outfits?
In fact the Bratz characters - Sasha, Yasmin, Jade and Cloe - were played live by four young ladies. I use the term "live"
loosely as every song appeared to be lip-synced.
The crowd consisted of preteen girls chaperoned by their parents and the sell, sell, sell element of the show was less than subtle, with Bratz adverts beamed on a giant screen before the show and during the interval.
The Passion 4 Fashion story revolved around a vague idea that the girls' fashion ideas were stolen by pantomime villain Rick Star. The songs themselves, to my surprise, were excellent - expect an assault on the charts soon - and the choreography enjoyable.
In the second half a live, bemused-looking band appeared, which livened things up and left me wondering why they hadn't played the whole show.
But belay the cynicism of a wizened hack. The kids loved it, especially when they got to boo and hiss Rick Star or stand up and join in the actions.
By the end three generations of the Cooper clan were dancing and clapping along.
