We are all being told how wonderful the new Ropetackle Centre is.
Yes it is a lovely new building with great new facilities and a huge grant from Adur District Council but spare a thought for the Shoreham Centre in Pond Road, which may be an old building and may only receive a small grant from Adur District Council but still receives hundreds of people through its doors every week.
It's open six to seven days a week and provides a huge variety of activities, from mum and baby clubs right through to over-sixties clubs.
I am hoping the Ropetackle will be a success but, with such a lack of parking facilities, can't help thinking of that old saying "white elephant". Wouldn't it have been more cost-effective for Adur Council to have maybe invested their money in the Shoreham Centre, which is already very well-established and well-attended?
