Two thousand homes were left without electricity tonight after a fault on high voltage lines knocked out part of the National Grid.
A spokesman for EDF Energy confirmed properties in Goring were affected by the power cut which happened just before 9pm.
He said: "Our engineers are on their way to investigate the problem and aim to get people back on as soon as possible and we would like to apologise for the power outage."
He could not say how long the black-out could last meaning thousands of people could be without electricity for hours to come.
