Only 12 months ago the Born to Dance posse were planning a move away from their original home at the Ocean Rooms to the Zap Club. Now the record label not only plays nights at the Zap every two months but has expanded operations to include nights in Kiev, Ibiza, Bahrain and even down the road in Eastbourne.
Helping the label celebrate its first year in its new regular home is a line-up of topclass DJs headlined by Ian Carey of Soul Providers and Saturated Soul.
Gav McCall, managing director of Born to Dance, says: "We have used more commercially-edged DJs in the past but Ian's a person who has done some great stuff within the industry. He fits our sound more than anyone at the moment."
The club night focuses on the funkier side of electro rather than the banging electro that is the staple at many other clubs. So far it has seen guest appearances by The Freemasons, Michael Grey, Stonebridge, Soul Seekerz, Richard F and Bryan Chambers. At present, the club night is planning a tour of the UK and Europe to bring the Born to Dance vibe to even more clubbers.
Joining Ian on the decks tomorrow night in the main room will be Gav, KJ Clancy and a special appearance by Kiev's Ilya Schtatsky. Playing club classics and anthems in the second room Born Again will be the Lovable Rogues, Dave Bonner, Joe Mitchell and Claudio Fraguela.
