Danny Boyle may be a director with comparatively few credits but he turns in yet another great film with this thoughtful fusion of sci-fi, action and a little bit of horror.
The story concerns eight astronauts on a 55-million mile voyage to reignite a sun that's slowly dying.
It's rare for a film to maintain tension and credulity and strive to paint a beautiful picture of life at the same time but somehow Sunshine succeeds, with shades of Alien and Event Horizon creeping in, creating both tension and humour where necessary.
What could have been a mish-mash of themes in the hands of a lesser director comes together quite effortlessly by the time the end credits roll.
