Bajofondo Tango Club is the electronic tango project lead by the Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla.

Santaolalla, who as well as winning a Golden Globe and an Oscar for his work on Brokeback Mountain, has just walked away with a BAFTA and another Oscar for his soundtrack to the Brad Pitt film Babel.

The Argentinean's music career started in 1967 at the age of 16, when he founded the group Arco Iris and made history pioneering the fusion of rock and Latin American folk.

He has since become one of the most important names in the Latin alternative music scene. He's won a Grammy for his work with Cafe Tacuba and Juanes and has produced critical and commercial successes for million-selling Mexican group Molotov.

Santaolalla has also composed the scores for all of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's trilogy - Amores Perros, 21 Grams and Babel - but Bajofondo Tango Club is where he straps on his guitar and dives into the past, present and future of tango.

Direct from Buenos Aires, with virtuoso musicians, stunning visuals and extraordinary beats, Bajofondo take the foundations of electrotango set by the Gotan Project and triple the digital rhythms.

With elements of house, drum 'n' bass and trip-hop, meshed seamlessly with conventional acoustic tango instruments, the band are bringing tango back into the mainstream.

Support comes from Capitan Melao - the side project of Stereophonics drummer Javier Weyler.
