I should like to congratulate all those involved in organising and participating in the Whitehawk Challenge Day (The Argus, April 11).

This is an example of community action that Whitehawk can be proud of and to see the police, council workers and the children of the neighbourhood working together was indeed a joy to behold and to me it represents the true spirit of the community.

I should also like to congratulate The Argus for giving the event such prominent coverage and giving out a real positive message that Whitehawk is a fine community to live in and one that cares about its environment.

I hope this becomes an annual event and a continuing reminder of Whitehawk pride.
