A holiday cottage on the site of one of England's most well-known battles in East Sussex has opened to the public.
South Lodge is a former gatehouse which overlooks the field where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066.
The two-bedroom house is billed by English Heritage the perfect retreat for history-loving holidaymakers.
Rob Parkes, Head of Property Development for English Heritage, said: "The first year of the holiday cottage project has been hugely successful.
"Whilst we knew such a unique proposition would be attractive to the UK holiday market, we did not anticipate the response we have had.
"We are confident this interest will continue to grow with our new additions, all of which are extraordinary properties in beautiful settings."
South Lodge is one of seven new properties English Heritage has taken on.
