A 25-year-old motorist has been arrested after a hit and run accident left a pedestrian needing hospital treatment.
The victim, who was with a group of friends, was hit by a VW Golf in Carlton Hill, Brighton, at around 3.40am today. The vehicle that struck him drove off without stopping.
Police searched the area where the man was struck and found the badly damaged vehicle in Queen's Park. Further enquiries led to the 25-year-old being arrested at a house nearby on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
The victim remains in the Royal Sussex County Hospital with slight neck and head injuries, where he was today undergoing x-rays.
The driver is being questioned over the collision.
