From the band that might have a problem getting on a few radio playlists (how exactly do you say Sh*tdisco without swearing?) came the gig that was almost brilliant, but fell at the final dance.
Maths Class, the first third of the evening's bill, suffered from a chronic lack of attention from the sparse crowd, but their angular guitar pop provided a welcome earlyevening warm-up.
Next up, and despite some interruptions straight from the Advanced School of Heckling, Liverpool's To My Boy rode their wave of retro synth and high-energy electro pop with impressive confidence and great showmanship, with tracks such as The Grid, a sort of Human League-esque spiked burst of machine music, providing several memorable moments.
Right on time, the four members of Sh*tdisco wandered on stage and sent the crowd into glowstick heaven with their second song, Reactor Party.
But their new material lacked the pounding urgency and instant likeability that makes Reactor Party so brilliant.
A burst of Prodigy in the form of No Good (Start The Dance) was the inevitable cover but, as the crowd crowed for more after a relatively short set, it felt disappointing that Sh*tdisco couldn't quite match the high voltage performance of To My Boy.
