Could my difficult relationship with my mother be making my asthma worse? Every time I go round to her place, I start wheezing. My husband says it must be psychological and related to the fact she and I don't get along too well.
Well, it's possible he's right. But frankly, I reckon it's much more likely you're allergic to something in her house - such as dust. Perhaps it would be best not to mention the idea of dust to her, though.
The chest physician who looks after your asthma could check you for dust allergy. Also, a good test to find out if it's psychological would be to have a chat on the phone with her - and see if that brings on an asthma attack.
