I am deeply concerned about my daughter, who has just had an ectopic pregnancy. What on earth does this term mean? And will she be able to have children?
An Ectopic pregnancy is one which occurs in the wrong place - usually in the fallopian tube.
There's no room for a pregnancy to develop there, so the result is the woman gets intense pain, plus usually some spotting of blood. In nearly all cases, the affected tube has to be removed by emergency surgery. However, provided your daughter's other tube is OK, there's no reason why she shouldn't be able to have babies in the future.
