What a front page you gave the new proposals for the West Pier site (The Argus, April 3).
So what about the funding for the scheme? No public/lottery money?
Just private investment? Well, I am impressed.
But isn't the West Pier deal contingent on the "Eye in the Sky" being built? Is that to be private investment only as well?
If a commercial enterprise is to receive public handouts, then this should be shouted from the rooftops for our general knowledge, not hidden away in sketchy local Press reports.
I make this point because during and since the Thatcher years a great fuss was and is made about private enterprise not being molested by this nanny state. So it is important all the people involved in the West Pier scheme remain untarnished by accusations or begging-bowl tactics for their plans.
Otherwise, the whole deal could be in danger of being labelled as so much "eye-wash".
