A pensioner's 28-year-old toyboy has told how glamour girl Jordan put him off younger women for life.

Chris Harvey dated the Brighton model - real name Katie Price - when they were students at Patcham High School. Now he is married to grandmother Norma Harvey.

Their romance was short-lived but it convinced Chris he was more interested in older women.

Chris and Katie spent five years together in the same class and became friends.

But Katie decided to take their friendship further and romance blossomed when she asked him out to watch blockbuster Dances With Wolves.

Chris said: "I really didn't think in a million years she would ask me out because she would go out with more popular boys.

"She frightened me to death because she turned up in all this leather stuff, including thigh high boots and a black mini skirt.

"She was dolled up to the nines. I got the number five bus with her and walked her back to her house in Patcham.

"I was totally petrified because of what she was wearing."

The relationship fizzled out shortly afterwards and they went their separate ways in 1994 when he went to Brighton and Hove Sixth Form College and she went off to pursue her celebrity career.

Chris had a number of girlfriends his own age over the next few years until he met Norma, 32 years his senior, in 1997 at a Butlins holiday camp in Pwhelli, Wales.

Norma left her husband in Cheshire and four weeks later they were engaged and moved to Swanborough Place in Whitehawk, Brighton.

Mr Harvey has no regrets about letting the subject of a million male fantasies go and marrying an older woman.

He said: "I wouldn't have wanted to be with someone like Jordan.

"I don't know if I would like the amount of exposure she gets because it can be a bit intrusive at times.

"I found women my age immature. I had always got on better with people older than myself.

"When I was going out with younger women the home wasn't always nice but older women keep a good home."

Despite their differences, Mr Harvey is convinced his wife could have taken the same star-studded path as his ex-girlfriend.

He said: "Jordan is classy but Norma is classy in a different way.

"Norma is a great singer and could have been the next Shirley Bassey or Cilla Black if she had been given the break.

"If I had the choice between Norma and Jordan two and had only known Norma for one week, I'd still chose her."

Mrs Harvey, who has released a charity CD for the International Glaucoma Association called Let There Be Love, does not feel inferior to her husband's ex.

She said: "I'm not jealous he went out with Jordan. I'm honoured."

Jordan was unavailable for comment.
