I am Brighton born and bred, so I think I am a good authority on this city of ours.
Things just don't happen here.
A lot of meetings take place but no action ever seems to result from them.
We were promised a new football stadium for Brighton and Hove Albion at Falmer but nothing has happened so far.
The King Alfred site has been approved in principle but will it ever be built? I think not.
The proposed development is huge. How can a mainly residential area cope with the increased traffic? After all, Kingsway is the only road available to take this considerable strain. And where will people park their cars?
The problems faced by this development are considerable.
I am only scratching the surface with these two examples. What about the proposed ice rink at Black Rock, which was intended to allow the Brighton Tigers ice hockey team to return to the city? Then there is the i360 tower next to the shell of the West Pier.
People propose reopening the Brighton Hippodrome but where will the shows come from?
Variety is dead and the Brighton Centre, the Dome Concert Hall and the gracious Theatre Royal Brighton are adequate venues for most touring shows.
Speaking of the Brighton Centre, I thought that was going to be knocked down and rebuilt. Once again, nothing has happened yet.
And what about the refurbishment of the Astoria Cinema?
I could go on and on but it is a waste of time. Brighton residents should dream on, because that is all we can do.
