The Liberal Democrat Party has launched its manifesto for the May local elections with a promise to keep streets clean, improve the seafront and make parking easier.
The party has three councillors on Brighton and Hove City Council and hopes to add to its tally after the vote on May 3.
A review of the proposed academy for Falmer, building a new school in the city centre and ensuring the city's main libraries are open every day are among the election pledges.
Group leader Councillor David Watkins said: "Putting it simply, we want to improve people's lives.
"From antisocial behaviour to improving local schools - we want to see the city get better.
"Residents struggle with a range of daily issues, and often don't see the council as on their side - we want to change this."
