Patients recently diagnosed with head or neck cancer are now getting help from others who have been through the same experience.
The Brighton Head and Neck Buddies scheme has been set up by volunteers from the city’s head and neck cancer support group.
Members have worked with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide the service at the Sussex Cancer Centre based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
It is the first patient group of its type for this particular form of cancer in the country.
Volunteers, who have received special training, visit the centre on Mondays and Fridays to speak to patients and offer advice, tips and what people can expect to happen.
