Calling all you football fans in East Sussex. Wherever you live, whether it be Rottingdean, Bevendean, Westdean, Ovingdean, Saltdean, Coldean, Woodingdean, East Dean even, Falmer, Firle, Folkington or Friston. Or anywhere else for that matter within half an hour of the quaintly-named Sports Park in Piddinghoe Avenue, home of Peacehaven & Telscombe FC.
P & T are currently the joint fifth highest-placed football club in Sussex, sharing that spot with Bognor Regis and Lewes in the Ryman Isthmian Premier League after back-to-back promotions from the County League, and whilst there is no complacency about their current 17th place behind Maidstone (who recently drew a crowd of more than 2,000), they have to get by with crowds sometimes struggling to reach three figures.
And with the March 31 deadline fast approaching, by which time the club must carry out several improvements to preserve their current status, it would be an absolute tragedy for them to suffer demotion for ground grading reasons.
The standard of football by P & T is excellent – I can testify to that. Yes, they’ve suffered a couple of drubbings, but they were more than a match in December for the two major “M”s (Maidstone and Margate).
So with 10 league games remaining, half of them at home, beginning with East Thurrock on Sunday, why don’t you Albion fans help swell their coffers by giving the seaside minnows a look-in before the end of the current campaign, and head down to Piddinghoe Avenue, just off the A259 near Telscombe Cliffs.
And apart from the Bournemouth and Watford matches to come, the other Championship games left at the Amex this season do not clash with Peacehaven and Telscombe’s remaining home fixtures.
So how about getting yourself down to the Sports Park, especially for the clashes with Enfield (March 21) or the mighty Margate (April 4)?
