Went to City Books event last week (27th Jan 2015 at 7pm) which was flogging Shami Chakrabarti’s latest (and only) book “On Liberty”: whilst it was potentially invigorating it did ultimately fall flat. She spoke conspiratly and too quietly, too.
The clock behind her was frozen and her analysis was similar. Her lauding the role played by Social Networks seemed to allow for lynch mobs.
She tried out a few bon-mots (“Rendition is not a choral song”) but her timing was wrong.
Her book, as she herself said, will not keep you up at night.
