Police looking for a wanted person found instead a personal cannabis factory in Whitehawk.
A 46-year-old man living in a property in Chiddingly Close was arrested and later cautioned for cannabis cultivation and obstructing the police.
When Sussex Police tried to gain entry, the man slammed the door which hit an officer.
The man, who had no previous convictions, then tried to flush the cannabis plants and soil away.
Two cannabis plants, a grow tent the size of a phone box and hydroponics equipment were seized and destroyed following the incident on October 9
A police spokesperson said the man was growing the cannabis for personal use and there was no evidence of it being a commercial set up.
Sussex Police have since found and arrested the wanted person for an unrelated offence.
Getting more people to report drug activity to the police is the top Local Priority for East Brighton Neighbourhood Policing Team.
