Across Sussex, Friday, September 12, to Sunday, September 14 FROM backstage tours at the BBC, to a visit to Kemp Town's only Grade II listed sunken garden, Heritage Open Days are once more offering access to places across Sussex normally closed to the public.

Brighton And Hove has always taken the nationwide event to heart, with churches and landmarks across the city throwing open their doors this weekend. Some venues have already sold out or require advance booking, whereas others are accessible by turning up on the day.

Below The Guide picks out our five favourites:

SADDLESCOMBE FARM Congress Theatre, Carlisle Road, Eastbourne, Sunday, September 14.

The National Trust farmstead once owned by the Knights Templar is offering a chance to see a 400-year-old barn, the Tudor wing of the manor house and a donkey tread wheel which once provided water to the whole farm. Plus Sussex Stationary Engine Society will be demonstrating vintage machines.
