THE Princess Royal will be among those enjoying the South of England Show this week.

Organisers are hoping to attract in excess of 70,000 visitors over the three days again this year, starting on Thursday.

A first class blend of entertainment is expected including comedy, street theatre and music as well as one of the most impressive food halls in the South East.

The South of England Agricultural Society is celebrating the Year of Horticulture so visitors can also enjoy spectacular horticultural displays across the showground.

Princess Anne, inset, will visit on Thursday and take the opportunity to see various areas of the show before she attends the AGM of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, in her role as President.

She will be welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Susan Pyper, this year’s President of the Society, Lord Egremont and the Chairman of the Society, Michael Lambert.

World class Australian quad bike stuntman, Matt The Kangaroo Kid Coulter, who will be performing at the show with his son, said: “I’m particularly excited that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will be visiting the show this year.

“We have done a couple of shows at her residence, Gatcombe Park and have even jumped over her Land Rovers before.”

Matt regularly appears on several television shows including the Guinness World Record setting various world records for quad jumping and has also jumped a flying plane on two separate occasions.

As well as the Kangaroo Kids, the education marquee will return this year, teaching children more about the countryside.

2014 will see the largest collection of some of the country’s finest specimens of livestock and over 1,800 horses will be on display throughout the three days.

The South of England Show is running from June 5 until June 7 at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex.

Gates open at 9am and close at 6.30pm daily and there is free parking, free entry for children aged under six and a regular bus shuttle service from Haywards Heath train station to the showground.
