Trevor Alford was right in many respects when he commented about the disgraceful situation regarding the A27 in Worthing. (Argus, May 30).
Of course, the decision to do nothing was the Ministry, and not the local council.
The new college made it necessary to add some pedestrian lights, which do not affect the Grove Lodge roundabout for most of the time; just during college arrival and departure times.
In fact, in the past this building was owned by an insurance company, which also had a fair amount of traffic in the rush hour, so not much difference there.
The remarkable thing, though, is that for three days this week the traffic lights have not been working, and traffic was moving through the roundabout considerably quicker than usual as a result.
When they were repaired the congestion got even worse than usual. Getting rid of those lights would be an excellent improvement to traffic flow.
