The article in the Argus (Friday, May 30) concerning a police CCTV vehicle parked in a disabled bay and partly on the pavement has undertones of the Keystone Cops about it.
A council spokesperson said “the area where the disabled bay is situated is outside the controlled parking zones and therefore not routinely patrolled by enforcement officers”. Does that mean that vehicle owners can park on double yellow lines in a very busy high street in Rottingdean without impunity?
As for their undercover operations the police couldn’t draw more attention to themselves if they tried.
Incidently has the officer in the van been reprimanded – I know that I would if I had similarly offended.
