A HIGH STREET worker has ditched her corporate career and become the youngest shop manager at children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House.
Emma Tyrrell, of Shoreham, set the record at the charity after being appointed shop manager aged 22 years old.
Emma will work at Chestnut Tree House’s new shabby-chic shop in Uckfield after a retail career with a national chain.
Her mum is a manager of the Chestnut Tree warehouse and encouraged her unhappy daughter to apply to work for Sussex’s only children’s hospice.
Emma said: “Before joining I hadn’t even been in a charity shop let alone considered working for one but it was the best advice I had ever been given as I’ve made so many friends and it’s so very rewarding.
“I love everything shabby-chic and upcycling so when I was offered the post in Uckfield I was very nervous but now I am thriving on it particularly as I can make my own mark on the shop with the visual merchandising.”
To volunteer in the new Uckfield shop contact Mark Francis on 01903 706315 or just pop along to the shop and speak to the staff there.
The new store is located at 23 High Street, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 1AG.
