A CINEMA will be honouring a legendary Japanese filmmaker.
Duke of York’s Picturehouse will be celebrating animation pioneer Hayao Myazaki with a season of six of his films.
Hayao Myazaki announced his most recent release The Wind Rises will be his final film before his retirement. Picturehouse Cinemas will be honouring his career nationwide.
Duke of York’s started the season on Monday with a showing of My Neighbour Totoro at 6.30pm.
The films will then run at the same time on consecutive Mondays.
They will be showing Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and Ponyo.
In most cases the films will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles.
