A man has been charged with escaping from lawful custody after being found in Eastbourne on Sunday.
Officers launched a manhunt after Samuel Lee, 44, failed to return to a mental health centre in Homerton, East London, after an authorised trip on Thursday.
He was being detained at the John Howard Centre on Kenworthy Road.
He was found in Eastbourne on Sunday where he was arrested prior to being transferred to an East London police station.
Lee, who was charged yesterday, has been remanded in police custody and will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court this morning, police said.
