A GROUP of rowers had to be rescued from a river after their boat capsized.
Shoreham RNLI’s inshore lifeboat scrambled to a report of five people in the water after their quad rowing boat had capsized on the River Adur near Riverside, Shoreham at 5.45pm on Monday.
Once on scene, the crew plucked a woman and four teenage rowers out of the water and put them into the inshore lifeboat.
They were then taken back to the lifeboat station where they were checked over by an ambulance crew.
Senior helm Mark Hayes said: “We took the young rowers and their coxswain back to the station.
“They were shaken up and cold but luckily unharmed.”
