A cyclist has been left with a critical head injury after a collision with a pedestrian.
At 2.25pm on Saturday (31 May) the 54-year old local woman was cycling in Madeira Drive when she collided with a 33-year old woman pedestrian from Hertfordshire and sustained a serious head injury.
The cyclist was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and later transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital where she is currently in a critical condition.
It is understood the cyclist was riding in the cycle lane.
The pedestrian received minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
