CYCLISTS traded in their spandex for tweed as they went for a leisurely retro ride.
Bikers climbed aboard their cycles decked out in their very best vintage wear as they took part in Travel Log Lewes’s Tweed Ride.
Farmer’s flat caps and suspenders replaced helmets and cycling shorts as they rode their cycles through the town and across the Downs.
They met at Lewes train station before cycling 15 miles through the town and up the cycleway to Firle before returning to the village of Glynde for a glass of ginger beer.
Chris Smith, event organiser said: “Many people are put off cycling because they think they have to dress up in this rather strange get up and we wanted to show that you can cycle in whatever you like – whether it be wearing a tweed jacket and breeches or a jeans.”
