HAS Gemma Collins become the first celeb to escape an East Sussex detox retreat?

The tabloids were clamouring to report that the TOWIE star made a dash for it six hours after arriving at Slimmeria, which “aims to make the fasting experience enjoyable”. Not for Gemma, it seems.

She reportedly sat through a raw vegan meal and a talk on nutrition but at 10pm she escaped “while the other guests were sleeping”.

The retreat, at the Grade II* listed country house Hye House in Crowhurst, is well known for its celeb guests.

Back in October, Bianca Gascoigne was “whipped into shape” on Brighton beach by a woman in black wielding a whip.

Latest reports suggest that soon after sneaking out of Slimmeria, Gemma signed up for No 1 Bootcamp in Norfolk – and she’s already lost 1st 8lb.

BGT ‘boring to watch’?

“ONE million viewers desert ‘boring’ Britain’s Got Talent”, screamed national newspaper headlines last week as viewing figures showed a drop for Tuesday’s semi-final.

With tweeters complaining about excessive ad breaks making it “boring to watch”, how did Brighton-born BGT boss Simon Cowell react?

“A very good winner tonight on Britain’s Got Talent – James. Already shaping up to be a really good final next week.”

BRIGHTON painter Robert Burns is famous for his house full of Renaissance-style décor.

He’s just unveiled his latest murals, including Simon Cowell in the style of Giovanni Bellini’s painting of Doge Leonardo Loredan.

Simon “hangs” alongside Nigella Lawson in the style of Pietro Perguino’s painting The Magdalene and Danny Elfman, who wrote the scores for The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives and many of Tim Burton’s movies, as Caravaggio’s Bacchus as an Adolescent.

ACTRESS Lesley Manville is picking up good reviews for her role in Angelina Jolie’s new movie Maleficent.

The Independent’s film reviewer described as “incidental pleasures” performances by Brighton-born Lesley, Imelda Staunton and Juno Temple as squabbling pixies who “cluck and fuss to fine comic effect”.

Lesley, once married to actor Gary Oldman, told The Independent that during filming the three flew around a studio in harnesses and rubber suits for motion scenes, they practised Pilates for weeks and were trained in tumbles by a Cirque du Soleil performer.

The film is in cinemas now but at its premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, Angelina’s other half Brad Pitt was “struck in the face” by TV reporter and serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk, who only recently got hauled away from a different red carpet for peeking under Ugly Betty star America Ferrera’s dress at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film is in cinemas now.

ROYAL Blood opened the show for Arctic Monkeys at their Finsbury Park gig last week.

Bassist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher filled the stage with “big riffs” in front of the crowd of thousands. Royal Blood, which only formed in Brighton in 2013, has been champ-ioned by BBC Introducing, which tweeted a pic of the guys at Radio 1’s Big Weekend with Fearne Cotton, who tweeted: “Can’t get over how good @royalblood are live! What a set on the introducing stage! They make the sound of 8 men! Loud and proud!”

Sounds like they're really going places. In fact, a couple of days ago they were on the overnight flight to Australia for three gigs. Ben tweeted: “Off to the airport in my pyjamas. Why don’t I wear these everyday?” Hope they managed to get some shut-eye before today’s first gig at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne.
