Why is it that, once again, the council has carried out highways work seemingly without giving much thought to the scheme?
Brighton and Hove City Council has approved the widening of the pavements in Queen’s Road (from the train station entrance to the junction with Upper Gloucester Road) and then allowed the building of flower beds on the pavement.
This has simply cluttered the pavement again by reducing the width.
Is anyone at the council aware that Queen’s Road is the gateway to our city for the hundreds of thousands of people (tourists and residents) arriving by train each week?
It should provide a pleasant, safe and enjoyable first experience of our great city.
Instead it is a visual eyesore; a dangerous ingress and egress for anyone using the station; an obstacle course with bikes, floor standing signs and metal cages outside businesses all left on the pavement.
The whole area around the station, Queen’s Road and Surrey Street has never worked properly and causes endless frustration for pedestrians, car drivers, taxis, and bus-users.
