Two men suffered serious injuries after a horror crash at the beginning of the morning rush hour.
The two men were travelling in this black car when it left the A27 this morning, rolled over before coming to rest as a crumpled wreck in woodland.
The car’s driver, a man in his 20s, amazingly was able to get out of the car following the horror crash on the east side of the Drusillas roundabout on the A27 at Alfriston at 6.35am today.
His passenger, believed to be a man from Bexhill, was airlifted to a London hospital suffering from serious injuries.
East Sussex firefighters, Sussex Police officers and South East Coast Ambulance service paramedics attended the crash site and the busy road was closed between the Polegate crossroads and the Drusillas roundabout until 10am to allow the air ambulance to land, recovery of the vehicle and initial crash investigations to take place.
A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: “We sent three ambulances and three cars to the scene and also assigned the air ambulance to the incident.
“Two patients were assessed and treated for their injuries before being taken to hospital.
“One patient was airlifted to St Georges Hospital in London with serious injuries and the second patient was treated and then taken as a priority to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
“He was aged in his 20s and was placed in a neck collar and on a longboard for potential injuries.”
Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to contact police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Op Kingscross.
