I was delighted to see Sir Chris Hoy visiting the Preston Park Velodrome last Tuesday to promote a new range of children’s bikes and ride a lap of the circuit.
It was fantastic to see so many people of all ages braving the rain and catching a glimpse of our most successful Olympian.
I am thrilled that Preston Park and the city have received exposure on his Twitter page to more than 500,000 people.
Through speaking with residents on the doorstep, it is evident that they are rightly proud of the Velodrome, which is actually thought to be the oldest in England.
I hope Sir Chris’s visit inspires a future generation of cyclists.
