A school has been crowned winner of a lauded educational award. Hillside School in Portslade was presented with an “Edward” award as part of National Epilepsy Week on Friday.
The prize, from Epilepsy Action, is awarded to organisations that support pupils with the condition. There are three such children at Hillside.
The small community special school caters for pupils aged four to 16 with a range of learning difficulties and autism.
It was recognised for identifying pupils with epilepsy were not progressing in line with their peers.
It has since introduced a number of support systems to ensure epileptic children are able to access all aspects of the curriculum.
