Crystal meth production models do not tend to make suitable subjects for business conferences.

But then the Brighton Summit is no ordinary conference.

Using the wildly successful but perilously dangerous drug-cooking exploits featured in hit TV showBreaking Bad, delegates will hear how not to do business.

Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce president Julia Chanteray’s talk is one of several challenging ‘UnConference’ talks at this year’s Brighton Summit.

She said: “As well as being a triumph of TV drama, Breaking Bad contains many lessons for us both in life and in business.

“I won’t be teaching you howto make crystal meth, but we will learn about the importance of aligning values with your business partners, efficient distribution chains, and the temptations and limitations when your business grows bigger than you ever needed it to be.

“This is only for fans who knowwhat happens at the end of series five.”

The theme of the summit will be ‘Come on an Adventure’ to reflect the excitement and challenges of business.

Speakers will describe the different stages in their own journey, challenges and failures, how to re-invent themselves, help others and learn to keep on a straight path through the randomness of their business adventure.

The Dare Hour will push delegates out of their comfort zones with challenges ranging from exotic drawing to tightrope walking.

Other sessions offer attendees a chance to run a workshop, lead a debate or speak on a topic of their choice.

Speakers include Rob Forkan of social enterprise Gandys, who will share his poignant story with BBC journalist, chamber volunteer and Lewes resident Miranda Birch.

Aged 13 Rob and his three siblings were orphaned after his parents were killed by the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.

Some years later Rob and brother Paul pledged to help other orphans around the world and set up a social enterprise selling flip flops which is now a major success story.

The summit will be rounded off with a finale, drinks and entertainment.

The Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce event will be hosted by Steve Bustin of Vada Media and will be held on July 4 at the Clarendon Centre in New England Street, Brighton.

Tickets are £45 rising to £65 from www.businessinbrighton.org.uk or the Chamber of Commerce on 01273 719097.
