Although in my opinion the refunds policy at Sports Direct leaves much to be desired, I do have sympathy for the retail outlet over the recent breastfeeding protest (The Argus, May 19).
Mumsnet deserves a voice but were I still of child-bearing age, Sports Direct is the last place I would walk into to feed a baby – there simply is not the room, let alone any privacy.
It may be an idea to feed one’s baby (and change its nappy) before leaving home.

On reading Katy Rice’s column, I feel incensed to reply. Tim Ridgway is correct.
I assume Katy hails from the “I can so I will” brigade.
I am a grandmother of 68 and I find breastfeeding in public offensive, as do many people. It is totally unnecessary.
Why can’t women feed their child before they embark on their outings to a cafe or restaurant to annoy other people.
What’s wrong with giving the child a bottle for that one occasion?
As the mother of three strapping sons who were never breastfed, I feel it is not that detrimental to the child’s health. That way everyone is happy.
