More than £3,600 worth of cigarettes were stolen from the back of a lorry during a delivery at a Co-op store.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident at the store in Ifield Parade, Crawley, on May 13 at 6pm.
A man, described as white and 25 years-old, was seen fleeing with a large bag after opening the rear of the lorry as it was reversing.
He is described as being 6' tall and of average build and was wearing a red vest and black hat.
PC Thomas Mooney said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who has information or may recognise the thief, who we believe is local.
“They should contact police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.poilice.uk or call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting serial 1220 13/5."
