A recent article (The Argus, May 20) stated that one hundred bells had been handed out to cyclists in a bid to improve safety along the seafront.
It did not say who paid for them but the riders clearly got them for nothing, which begs the question, Why?
Why should they not pay for something they should have bought in the first place?
Letters about cyclists have mentioned, among other things, those who ride around without lights, so perhaps now is the time for the council to dish out free lights too.
And let it not stop there. Free helmets, free bike servicing, whatever you want, just ask, money’s no object.
“Savage coalition cuts” may be affecting everything from care homes to rubbish collections but cyclists are obviously immune to them.
