A man was stabbed in the back in broad daylight in what police have described as a “cowardly attack”.
Officers are appealing for information after the attack in St Paul's Road, Chichester, on Saturday afternoon (May 17).
The victim was walking near the One Stop Shop at 4.40pm when he was approached by a man.
He stabbed him in the back before running off towards the Parklands area.
The victim was taken to St Richard's Hospital with a stab wound which is not believed to be life threatening.
The suspect, who is described as a short white man wearing a blue hooded top, is believed to be known to the victim.
Detective Conctable Gavin Percival, said: "This was a cowardly attack which resulted in serious injury and has no place on the streets of Chichester.
“We do believe this was a targeted attack and the victim and suspect may be known to each other. If you saw a person, matching this description, running on the day or can provide any information that could assist the investigation please do not hesitate to contact me.”
